About the EHR Good Neighbor
A community-driven initiative to improve healthcare interoperability and hold EHR vendors accountable.
Our Mission
The EHR Good Neighbor was inspired by former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra's call to action during his keynote at the 2025 HIMSS interoperability pre-conference forum. Our mission is to create a collaborative platform where healthcare technology vendors can report interoperability issues with EHR systems, facilitating their resolution and ensuring compliance with data exchange requirements. As we see information blocking enforcement come to fruition and evidence that private action for information blocking can be successful, we hope to avert that before it starts and show EHR vendors blind spots.
While over 300 electronic health records are certified by the Office of the National Coordinator as compliant with certain data requirements, the reality of implementation often falls short. Our platform aims to bridge this gap by providing a structured process for identifying, reporting, and resolving these issues.
How We Work
Issue Reporting
Healthcare technology vendors submit detailed reports about interoperability issues they encounter with EHR systems.
Expert Review
Our team validates reports, anonymizes them if requested, and works directly with EHR vendors to facilitate resolution.
Accountability
If issues remain unresolved, we may publish them publicly to ensure transparency and accountability in the industry.
Our Team
The EHR Good Neighbor is led by a team of healthcare interoperability experts with extensive experience in health IT standards, EHR implementation, and healthcare policy. Our advisory board includes representatives from healthcare provider organizations, technology vendors, and patient advocacy groups.

Join the Initiative
We invite healthcare technology vendors, EHR vendors, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to join our initiative. By working together, we can improve healthcare interoperability, ensure compliance with regulations, and ultimately enhance patient care through better data exchange.
